Tesla Put Me In TimeOut!

I have been in a Tesla since 2017. I bought the X because I thought it would have full self driving features by 2018. Only in the last 90 days have I tested and concluded that the Full Self-Driving is finally here. I was in a Waymo taxi in San Francisco last month, and there was no one in the driver’s seat. Tesla now has a pretty comparable experience but you must sit in drivers seat and look straight ahead.

Here is the part that I haven’t figured out how to hack. I lose my autopilot privileges once or twice a day. If the inside camera sees me not looking forward or if I don’t keep a hand on the steering wheel with some weight, I go to timeout. I have 5 strikeouts before I lose my auto pilot feature for a week.

During my week long timeout of me not having autopilot, I probably shouldn’t be allowed to drive at all. I am so habituated to autopilot and getting my work done on the lonely highway, that I try to do the same with no assistance from the car. I know some of you drive a Tesla and have been put in timeout as well. I can’t be the only one that wants to avoid autopilot jail time. I am a much safer driver when the car is doing all the work.

Tesla remains the most fascinating brand I have engaged with as an adult human. My wife just got a nice Porsche Cayenne, and it’s a superior ride, but Tesla seems to always be many years ahead on the software and battery tech.

Moral of this story is Tesla is the best car on the road for bad drivers. However, it shouldn’t put bad drivers in technology time out and make them even worse drivers.
