Meet a Lion
Lion really changed my entire day by a simple comment. I was about to order my oatmeal with banana and blueberries this morning and Lion says:
“Before we do an order I need to tell you how much I love your beard, your hair, and your sweatshirt”.
He said that to me, Ashley and Kirk. We then had a 4 minute conversation before finishing our order for breakfast.
His comment completely unlocked the chance for serendipity to occur. I ended the conversation with him by commissioning him to create a piece of art for me similar to the one he was wearing. Next time I am down here I will hopefully have jewelry and if you want in on it reply to this email.
I think back to the Ritz Carlton I was staying in last week in Hong Kong. The manager of the club on the top floor (like 116th floor) came to our group and asked how things were for us. I said we are doing great. I told him we are a new company and would love a tip from him on what makes the Ritz so good. I asked him if could tell us to help us in our startup. He said, without hesitation, “Personalization”.
That is the main lesson I learned in a week of China. And then I am here in Sedona right now and a Lion starts the conversation like he did. He wasn’t trained by Ritz Carlton I am guessing. He is at a small cafe in a canyon serving breakfast and doing his craft on the side.
We will partner with Lion to help with a resort we are creating in Sedona because he showed us personalization that was organic and natural in his customer engagements.
