Founder’s Magic Spell

I read this at lunch today to 11 founders from all backgrounds:

Thanks for coming to my first of many founders lunches and thank you to Zeni, a company lead by two amazing founders who believe in Utah.

There are many archetypes that we identify with or feel called to. We cannot be all of them, at least I don’t think that’s possible yet, but I also try to avoid the word can’t. Hard to be a Queen, Warrior, and Mage all at the same time, but who knows what is possible, right?

That is why I am writing to this small group today. This lunch was a call to founders. The founder archetype is a sacred one. You forge ideas, systems, and products that can last a thousand years. Founders build foundations, it’s that simple. Will the platform you create serve you and your kin? If what you are making becomes the size of a country, what does that country look like, how do the citizens of that country feel each day, and what will your country stand for? One thing is guaranteed: if you are a great founder, you will be loved and hated by the very people who participate in your creation.

I have been around founders for 30 years of my existence because they are the individuals I sought out, looked up to, the ones I read about, the ones that sparked my brain. This is why I am here today with you at this lunch, I need the energy of founders like Voldemort needed Harry Potter. Pray that I don’t suck all the joy out of your life as I try to take your energy, then refine it, and give it back to you with some of my added ions. I say ions because we founders are alchemists, testing recipes all day long and making changes to the elements in real time as we study the outcomes of our creations.

Let’s make this lunch a little different than the others that we enjoy every day. Let’s make sure we all find out the most important element that each other has discovered in their founders’ journey doing this alchemy. We can all spit out numbers and dates and names with ease. But can we spit out a little magic, can we teach each other's best spells?

I will go first. Stories through words, songs, paintings, and poems are the keystone of a foundation that will transcend our lifetime. Real time storytelling is my not-so-secret element that I must mix into all my creations. Every founder is writing a story and it’s being saved in the Akashic record for all the universe to access. The gift of a millennial founder is the ability to give voice to that story for all to hear and feel. A millennial founder is an idea that just came to me, I’ll define it as a founder that appears infrequently to the world and when the do appear, they creates a foundation that will last 1000 years. I feel that Utah has several millennial founders alive today. I am hoping to meet and help all of them with their foundations.

Forza Founders!
