Airplane ✈️ Shopping

Yes, today I got to sit in a bunch of jets that we will soon need so our team can get around.  We are spread across the world and planes are time machines that make work happen faster.

Meet Bill, my cofounder from Shanghai, who stays up late to write code and solve problems during our working ours.  He is no stranger to American business, having worked at Snapchat in the early days and living in LA and Lehi, UT.

Bill is very good at computations and code. He won China’s national spelling bee for math, if that makes sense.  We asked him how many customers we need to be able to buy a G8 and have the math make financial sense.  We are 500,000 customers short, but we will be there in 3 years, so clearly we need to shop now to plan ahead.

There is a story about the Panama Canal being constructed over 100 years ago that has some relevance to plane shopping. The company was having difficulty getting the locals to give up fishing to dig a canal, even with the fair wages being offered.  The owner of the company had an idea to distribute Sears Catalogs to the workers.  You obviously can guess what happened next:)

Love it or hate it, consumerism drives capitalism. Sitting in a new $50m jet that can get to China with no stops made us more excited to reach our goals and ship our products and finish our app.

I’m so excited to show you what Bill has made.  We are just weeks away at this point.  It’s been years in the making and will be worth the wait.

Happy 4:20
