Who is Wednesday?

It’s the 4th day of the week, right in the middle. Does Wednesday feel more like a girl of boy? Does it feel anything, or does it even know it exists? Today I want to declare Wednesday is for Wellness. That seems nice.

Am I qualified to talk about wellness? I'd love to share what works for me, even though I'm not the poster child for wellness. Logging my wins and losses for all to see can spark a discussion about what's effective and what's not for us as a species.

Some things just don't do my soul any good. Too much sugar, staying up late too often, not stretching enough, dwelling on negative past experiences, prioritizing others' opinions over my own... geez, wellness feels like this vast category encompassing everything our mind, body, and soul need for peak performance. It’s a fascinating industry to study and work in.

Here's what works for me: Friends who genuinely enjoy being together. A good friend can uplift you like nothing else. Food made with intention and love, especially fresh, minimally processed foods – you just feel it in your soul. Cannabis and mushrooms are becoming more popular than the growth curve of AI, being used for wellness in cities nationwide. Even tobacco might have wellness uses if we understood its natural applications better. And wine? A glass with a dear friend or Natalie is, for me, one of life's ultimate experiences.

However, the Mormon in me feels compelled to remind everyone that these are often seen as vices, not virtuous gifts from our creator. They are tools, to be used with reverence and ritual.

Wellness is also about movement. Skiing is my go-to right now, more so than my Peloton. It could be the air, the company, or the risk – though I've had my fair share of injuries from skiing, making me question its contribution to my wellness. Does having these doubts disqualify me from discussing wellness? Who really is an authority on the subject?

In the absence of a clear authority, I’ll continue to share my thoughts on wellness. Walking and hiking, I believe, benefit everyone – it's what we evolved to do. And water – we should be fantasizing about hydrating ourselves every hour, imagining it coursing through our veins. It's astounding that all we truly need is water, air, and occasional protein to survive for decades. Everything else is just extra.

Every action we take contributes to or detracts from our wellness. Does procreating add to my wellness? What about farming versus foraging? Today, I'm trying something new – my first stem cell injection, a gift from my partner. I'm curious to see if it makes a difference, and I'll be sure to share my experience.

Oh one more thing that makes me well. It’s writing. This works for me, and I think it will work for anyone who tries it…in any form. graffiti for some, is journaling for others. Go make some marks on the wall or screen and see how it feels for you.

Happy 4:20 amigos and amigas

Look at these crazy ass screws I got put in my hand from a ski injury in 1997. I had the x ray done last week and you can see they are still in there there doing their job. Wellness does happen with surgeons, they do some incredible work down on this planet.

after sharing this photo I got curious and asked Ai to show me what an x ray of a unicorn would look like:
