Uncanny Valley

Sep 9, 2024 · Scott Paul · 250 words

The “Uncanny Valley” is the eerie feeling people get when something, like a robot or animated character, looks almost—but not quite—human. As these creations become more realistic, our feelings toward them improve, but when they are too close to human yet slightly off, it creates discomfort. This "valley" refers to the dip in positive emotions when something is nearly human but still unnatural.

Lately, the matrix that I’ve been loaded into with you all of you has been glitching a bit.  Just this morning the frame rate of our shared simulation was lagging for me and then it caught back up.  This was in the morning and not at 4:20pm, so there was no reason that my eyes should be seeing the frame rate drop.

My inquiry to everyone is about events you have experienced that make you feel like we are possible in a simulation.  Have you felt uncanny valley in the real world?

Damn, I got distracted and missed my delivery time.  I wanted to say more about this subject, but here is a poll to see where we are all at:

Have a great 420

Yesterday I had a birthday party for my upcoming day and I was gifted stuff from The Never Ending Story. The shirt is from 2 years ago and the plant was last night from my favorite sister in law. I can say that cuz she is the only one that might protection read this nonsense. Thanks sis.
