Becoming a Sleep Athlete

I know it’s a little late for new year resolutions, but I am going to declare right here that I want to be a sleep athlete. I am going to take this serious because when I don’t sleep I actually don’t want to do anything else. If I don’t sleep, I don’t want to ride my bike. If I don’t sleep, I don’t want to write my emails.

I have a Whoop device and I know it does sleep tracking. I will start watching that. I have the new Apple Watch and it supposedly does the same. I will figure it out to track sleep.

Can anyone here reading please tell me their tricks for sleeping?

I am hoping that voicing this desire will keep me accountable. I have gone to bed at 2am or later the last 4 nights and I feel like I should go to bed closer to midnight or even 11pm for best results.

Bryan Johnson goes to bed at 8:30 with his routine. I don’t think that is possible for me. I need to fill a little bit like a teenager breaking curfew or I might go mad. So I will try to be naughty and stay up late once or twice a week.

Happy 4:20 loves,

SP

In a tranquil, moonlit bedroom, a person is sleeping soundly, embodying perfect peace. They're nestled in a cloud-like bed, the gentle glow of moonlight casting a silver hue across the room. The bedding is soft, breathable cotton, and they are dressed in the softest pajamas, appearing almost like a second skin. A diffuser mists the air with lavender scent, contributing to the serene atmosphere. Beside the bed, a book lies face down, indicating a bedtime ritual of reading. The sleeper's position is natural and comfortable, with one arm under the pillow and the other resting gently by their side, a soft smile on their face suggesting pleasant dreams. At the foot of the bed, a pet is curled up, adding to the sense of security and companionship. This scene captures the essence of a restorative night's sleep, promising a refreshing morning.

The Sleeper: The Embodiment of Peace There, in the heart of this tranquil haven, lies our sleeper, a person so deeply in the arms of Morpheus that their face is the very picture of serenity. Their body is relaxed, sunk into a mattress that seems to have been crafted from clouds, with pillows that cradle their head in a soft embrace. The Details: A Symphony of Comfort The Bedding: The sheets are soft, breathable cotton, cool to the touch, inviting the skin to breathe and relax. The blanket is just heavy enough to provide a comforting pressure, like a gentle hug across the body. The Attire: They're dressed in pajamas that seem to be made of the softest material, perhaps bamboo or silk, that flows around them, moving with every breath like a second skin. The Ambiance: A diffuser quietly mists the air with the scent of lavender, mingling with the natural, earthy aroma of the room, creating an olfactory lullaby. The Pre-Sleep Ritual: Beside the bed, a book lies face down, marking the end of a pre-sleep ritual, a journey through stories that guided the mind away from the day's stress and into the realm of imagination. The Position: They lie in a natural, comfortable position, one arm under the pillow, the other resting gently by their side. Their legs are positioned in such a way that suggests they found the perfect spot without even trying. The Expression: On their face, a soft, contented smile plays around the corners of their mouth, a silent testament to pleasant dreams unfolding in the hidden depths of their mind. The Companion: At the foot of the bed, a pet, perhaps a cat or a small dog, is curled up, its presence a silent, comforting watch over the night. The Night's Promise: The scene is set against the backdrop of a promise, a night filled with restorative sleep, leading to a morning that will greet them with soft, golden sunlight and the gentle chirping of birds. This is the portrait of a person. -DALLE
