I have a new business that I haven’t shared with you all and it’s and update to this post about Onsen that I wrote 2 years ago. Three months ago my friend Shane moved he and his family to America to bring the Japanese onsen experiences to Utah. We have been working on this for years and finally doing our groundbreaking of our first location. It will be at the Olympic venue for XC skiing called Soldier Hollow.

This will be a very untraditional groundbreaking for American standards, but very traditional when construction is about to take place in Japan. Here is a description my partner wrote:

We are honored to begin construction of Soho Saunas with a traditional Japanese jichinsai (地鎮祭), or groundbreaking ceremony. In Japan, a jichinsai is held to bless the land, show respect for nature, and pray for safety during construction. As we bring this tradition to Utah, we hope it will set a foundation of harmony, cultural respect, and positive energy for the future of Soho Saunas.

If any of you locals are wanting to experience this tradition it will be tomorrow, Monday at 10am, I have created an event page and invite you to see: https://luma.com/9lr5gs4y

Happy 420 on this beautiful Sunday and my Birthday Eve:) 45 on 15th 2025
