Not Doing Plans
When we travel we don’t have plans. Nothing is set up ahead of time. It’s not efficient this way if you are optimizing for tourism, but it creates the moments that can really only happen when you don’t have plans.
This why it takes us over a month to travel. We get there and then observe how to best take it in. We search for what local events might coincide with our being there and how to just burn time at a cafe for hours. They kid’s don’t always join us. That’s fine, they can stay home at Airbnb, but Natalie and I are going to get lost for the day.
That happened today. A 5 hour hike (should have been 3, but we lost her phone and had to go up and down and also made lots of stops for our old knees) brought us to San Fruttuoso. This is a small beach with a hotel and a few places to eat and an old church. You can only get here by boat, unless you do that crazy hike we did. We were not hiking back, so we took the boat back to Camogli where our place and had some dinner in yet another fantastic beach town.
Got home at 9pm after full day of walking and wondering. Now kids are watching Ponyo and we are headed to bed. Not sure what’s tomorrow, but it will come one way or another.
Ciao Tutti,
SP
