My Red Jacket

I purchased a magical jacket at a new boutique spot in downtown SLC called Rust and Relic. We had an event there during Silicon Slopes back in September for Phi with some street art happening live and firepits out in front. There were a few clothing items for sale and among those items was a vintage Calvin Klein red jacket. It cost $50 and has been such a gift that keeps giving.

Last Saturday, I find myself at a Superbowl party where Bert and Tom are launching their Por Osos Vodka. I am just dancing and feeling it out when up comes a “guy” I recognized. He comes to me and tells me how he saw my jacket from across the way and it made him think of when he was learning how to cook while living in France in the 80s.

I told him this jacket is his. What I meant is I will gift it to him. I got his number and we will probably just go to France later this year and hang out and go shopping. That’s how this world works when you ask it to work that way. We exchanged my jacket for his $100k gold knuckles (temporarily for the photo).

I was honored to have these moments with a person who I have admired for his public personality and flair. I met some of his kids and we gonna hang. I am coming into my own flair and fashion in my 40s. The validation I received when Guy not only told me I look great in the jacket, but that I also have one of the best bald heads he has seen, sure warmed my heart.

I will give him this jacket one day for keeps. I would love to find another one again, but have no idea where or how to find vintage clothes from photos alone. I figure one reader would see this and know just how to do it.
