The Bible Illustrated is Bonkers
Last March we did a thing. It was a hackathon comprised of several friends and 24 hours with a slumber party. The goal was to illustrate every verse of the Bible. There was no monetary goal our business outcome, just a challenge to see if we could do it in a time limit. Felt similar to the night in 1992 where I stayed up all night beating every team in NBA Jam.
The result of that hackathon is RandomSeed.com. You can pick any verse and see how the computer interpreted the words in art. It’s also clear how far we have come in just 10 months of Stable Diffusion and generative art. The verse is the prompt. This below is Psalms 29:4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
And then sometimes you get this 1 Samuel 9:5 And when they were come to the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant that was with him, Come, and let us return; lest my father leave caring for the asses, and take thought for us.
I think we will hold another hackathon for ourselves this March. It seems important to do things with no real business objective, but instead to just challenge a core team. Our advisor to Phi did a similar hackathon to figure out how to encrypt all the health data in our app coming out next month. It’s now HIPAA compliant and more. Tyler also made Random Seed happen too. There is no coincidence that his mind is wired to solve the hardest problems when you do it for fun with friends. 10,000 hours that Malcolm Gladwell talks about applies to hacking and coding just as much as it does painting or singing.
That’s all for today. What book should we do next hackathon? Or, maybe you have a better idea?
Ciao
